چکیده

Semi-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was applied to quantify and compare variations in avian E2A expression level between two Chinese indigenous duck breeds for different tissues. Six primer combinations in addition to $-actin as an internal control were used. The expression level of E2A was significantly (p<0.05) higher in kidney tissues than lung tissues for both Gao you and Kun shan indigenous duck breeds. The variability of gene expression between two breeds showed 34.35% and 60.70% higher expression in Gao you breed than Kun shan breed for kidney and lung tissues, respectively. Differences were found to be significant (p<0.05) only for expression level in lung tissues. No significant effect of sex upon E2A expression was detected. The association between E2A relative expression level and body weight was found to be positive and moderate for the genetically lean breed (Gao you), while it was negative and has low values for genetically heavy breed (Kun shan).

Molecular genetic diversity and origin of Chinese domestic duck breeds

The 667 bp control region of mitochondrial DNA from 8 representative domestic duck breeds in China, which were all native preserved duck breeds, and a mallard (6 Anas zonorhyncha individuals) were sequenced. The genetic polymorphism and the origin of the 8 domestic ducks were analysed. The result showed that the haplotype diversity (Hd) and average nucleotide diversity (Pi) were 0.67136 and 0.1...

Genetic Diversity and Phylogenetic Analysis of South-East Asian Duck Populations Based on the mtDNA D-loop Sequences

The maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) D-loop region is widely used for exploring genetic relationships and for investigating the origin of various animal species. Currently, domestic ducks play an important role in animal protein supply. In this study, partial mtDNA D-loop sequences were obtained from 145 samples belonging to six South-East Asian duck populations and commercial duc...

Malignant Melanoma in a Female Mallard Duck (Anas platyrhynchos)

Melanomas are malignant neoplasms originating from melanocytes. They reported in birds.  In this  case, macroscopic and microscopic (the histopathologic and IHC) findings supported a final diagnosis  of cutaneous malignant melanoma in a mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos). A female mallard duck  (Anas platyrhynchos) was observed with a mass on the ventral portion of the neck. Th...

Transcriptional Profiling Identifies Location-Specific and Breed-Specific Differentially Expressed Genes in Embryonic Myogenesis in Anas Platyrhynchos

Skeletal muscle growth and development are highly orchestrated processes involving significant changes in gene expressions. Differences in the location-specific and breed-specific genes and pathways involved have important implications for meat productions and meat quality. Here, RNA-Seq was performed to identify differences in the muscle deposition between two muscle locations and two duck bre...

Mitochondrial Analysis of Gene Flow between New Zealand Mallards (anas Platyrhynchos) and Grey Ducks (a. Superciliosa)

•One of the more well-known examples of hybridization in birds is the frequently documented occurrence between sexually dimorphic Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) and several closely related nondimorphic species in the mallard complex. In New Zealand, the Grey Duck (Anas superciliosa superciliosa) is the indigenous, nondimorphic Mallardlike species, and extensive hybridization with introduced Mall...
